Description

The villa is quietly situated next to the sea, within a lovely gated garden enclosed by shrubs, in a private rural lane leading to the undeveloped beach. You can hear the sea when you are in bed, which is a treat for most of us. There are lovely views in every direction, and they are even better from the first floor.
At the rear is an almond grove, with a backdrop of mountains, and there is an olive grove at the front and orchards all around this area. The villa is one of 4, all identical. Each villa has a secluded feel as it is set within a large 1000 sq m garden and separated from the next villa by a small field. A unique beachside location where car hire is not essential as the shops and restaurants of Polis Town are walking distance starting with an unlit track, with the first bar and Karouzis Taverna just 300m. There is a regular air conditioned bus going from Polis to Paphos, via Coral Bay, approx £1.90.

Although Polis is classed as a town, it has a “village” feel to it and has many attractive renovated buildings.
To give you an idea of its size, you could walk through Polis in 15 minutes. It is still extremely “Cypriot”, with most restaurants and shops being run by the family. Cheaper to eat out here than in Paphos, and the restaurants are all in hot competition to serve you the best food and give the friendliest service. Many, like Mosfilo Taverna serve the traditional specialities, like delicious kollo kassi, afelia, stifado etc. (Cooked by the owner’s mother and relations). Even simple food like stuffed tomatoes tastes wonderful due to home grown local produce being used. Clients are assured a warm welcome at the local Elena's Bar and Karaouzis Taverna opposite, both recommended and just 5 mins walk. (See Google Earth image below.) For guests without car hire the local minimarket Androulla’s can deliver free of charge in the afternoons

Testimonials for Orchard Villas updated August 2010

Dear Irene,
Just to let you know we had a lovely time at orchard villas, it was very peaceful but still close to all the facilities and Polis was just as your website described although not too busy for high season which suited us. Anura was around most days maintaining the villas and the maids kept the villa really clean. The pool was an excellent size and ideal for teenagers. Restaurants to visit include Mickeys, Karouzis, Moustakalis and Arsinoes for the fresh fish.
We used Nissos taxis for arrival and departure and a few trips just as you recommended. On checking out they picked up our luggage and kept it in their office in Latchi whilst we had lunch before carrying on to the airport, their service was really excelllent.
Thanks again Irene for your help and we would certainly use your company again and recommend you to our friends.

Phil Lloyd    Maghull

Dear Irene

We got on really well at the villa Orchard Coast, and Anura did everything he could to make a stay a good one. Nothing was too much trouble for him. After a delayed flight, we were met by the owner who showed us around the villa. Mr Michael visited us the following morning, drove us to Polis, gave a guided tour of the town before dropping us off at the 'big' supermarket. This was a lovely gesture by Mr Michael and was very much appreciated.

Later in the week we visited the 'local' supermarket, where our shopping was duly delivered to our villa.

In Polis, we recommend a visit to Finikas and Moustakalis eateries. Elenas is a great stopping off point with superb views and extremely pleasant service.

Thank you very much for a wonderful holiday.

An oasis of tranquillity

At the villa we did find

The orchard perfumed air

Helped us to unwind

The villa itself was fabulous

A really nice place to stay

Anura worked hard to assist us

Giving home from home comfort each day!

The sea to the right was beautiful and clear

A short walk to the beach bar for wine or a beer

A very peaceful setting, a pleasant bite to eat

No reason to go anywhere, simply stay in your seat!

The beauty of Polis, super restaurants here

A gentle stroll, 10 minutes away -

With a pause at Elena’s for a beer

Oh what a way to end the day!

The weather so warm and dry

Gave us every chance,

That pure blue lovely sky

So thank you all at Sundance!

Hi Irene

We had a most enjoyable holiday staying at Orchard Beach Villa in Cyprus. When we arrived, the villa was clean and tidy and we really appreciated having the hamper waiting for us in the fridge! There were plenty of clean towels for us all to use, although we did bring along our own beach towels, but didn't realise there were any beach towels to use at the villa. The swimming pool always looked so inviting and was used a great deal during our two week stay.
Anura was so helpful and we often had chats with him. We reported a few things to him in the villa which needed looking at. Some things he could replace immediately, others needed more time.
There was a resident cat at the villa which apparently belongs to the owner but she seemed very friendly and we took a few photos of her which reminded us of our cat back at home.
Most nights we walked into the square for a drink which we really enjoyed, choosing a different bar each night.

Thank you for a most enjoyable holiday and we would recommend to our friends.

Debbie Norton    Groby

Hi Irene,

Arrived back last night and I am reluctant to give you this feedback as there is the danger of everyone finding out about the beautiful town of Polis!!
Orchard Villa was much better than we expected - the photo on the website doesn't do it justice. It was spacious, clean and comfortable, the pool was wonderful, the cold drinks machine a godsend and it was all kept in order by Sanjay who was very friendly and extremely helpful. It was in a perfect
location within walking distance of the town and the beach. We spent many lazy hours on the relaxed and uncrowded campsite beach followed by a drink or two in the beach bar watching the sun go down. We ate out in a variety of good restaurants in Polis and enjoyed the village atmosphere and the friendly locals.
Hope to go again,

Will be in touch,

Sue, Andy and Stephie Ball

Dear Irene

Orchard Beach villa was lovely.  It was clean and well equipped and in a lovely location.  The villa, the grounds and the pool are all lovely.

And bigger than your photographs on the website lead you to believe.  We loved every moment. Annura was marvellous. He truly is a gem.  Polite and funny and helpful.

Always happy , always helpful and would advise us about anything we asked.  A lovely man.  We got on well with him and would consider him to be our friend.  It was a pleasure to meet him and know him.  I'd recommend him to be a rep without hesitation. A charming gentle man.

Recommendations :  Akamas peninsula, a beautiful place.    Eating out in

Polis:   All the ones we used were good quality but head and shoulders

above the rest is Arsinoe Fish Taverna, in the square opposite the post office.  The best fish restaurant I have been in my life, as a rule Debbie doesn't eat fish but there she made an exception. The owner/manager is the perfect restaurant host. The food was divine.   I

would not hesitate to recommend Arsinoe.

For snacks and brilliant cocktails and some of the best chips in the world, with wonderful friendly Greek Cypriot service with a smile, I would recommend Elena's,  a little way inland from the campsite.  Elena is lovely, and she is over the moon if you try to speak to her in Greek.

A lovely friendly woman in a lovely peaceful spot.  We felt very welcome at her place.

We both had a wonderful time and miss all of it terribly.

If you hear of late deals for July please let me know.  Thank you for keeping in touch.

Dear Irene

Back home now after another wonderful week at Orchard Villas in Polis. Nothing much had changed since my sister and I were there 4 years ago so we managed to get into holiday mode straight away. Again we didn't bother with a car so set off the first morning to find the new big supermarket. Stocked up for the week ahead and rather cheekily asked them if they would deliver. They don't offer that service but after a bit of gentle persuasion we managed to get one of the delivery vans to take us and our goods back to the Villa (can you imagine that happening in reverse at Sainsbury's/Tesco/Waitrose etc.). The weather was perfect so our days, as before, were spent lazing around the pool (doing at least 100 lengths to combat the wine intake) eating delicious lunches outside, shared by the resident cat and numerous ants and lizards, a sundowner or two with crudités and houmous and then off to the village to try out all the numerous restaurants. One story I must tell you is the first night we tried to go back to the one we went to the first night 4 years ago as we had had such a delicious meal there - called Volos. We checked it out only to be told they had shut 2 years previously (although the menu board was still outside). We were so disappointed but after a long conversation of where we should go instead (Mystery was suggested in Latchi) they suddenly said "we will cook for you tonight" and asked what we wanted to eat!! We said just as before, Seabass with salad and french fries all washed down with some local wine. How kind was that - they even laid up the table where we had sat before. The Cypriot people are so kind and helpful and we even went back on our last night.

I would also like to sing the praises of Anura who was our Poolboy. He was such a help in so many ways, nothing was too much trouble even going off on his motorbike to get more baby food for my Grandson Archie who came with us.

Thank you for all your help before we went and all the useful information you sent us. It all went like clockwork and we can’t wait to go back again and make it a regular event.

With very best wishes

Suzie      Chipping Norton

Dear Irene,

We enjoyed our holiday rental. I have unfortunately been quite consumed by my work situation since returning due to reorganisation and cutback plans.

Still, the lovely feelings from our holiday have remained with us. Many times at the start of a workday we would say, "We should just go back to Cyprus."
We check the weather forecast for Cyprus in the newspaper pretty much everyday. Right through to the end of November it was still 22 degrees and sunny!

We enjoyed the Polis area where our rental house was! Certainly a much different feel to the area in comparison to the Coral Beach area. We had a rental car so getting around was easy and I myself would advise it to everyone, especially those not particularly agile (as myself).
And we loved the supermarket in Polis village which was mentioned in your information! We were taken by the owner's kindness who called the local butchshop for us on a Saturday evening at 7 p.m. to check if he was still open and warn him that we were coming to buy meat for a barbecue. Then she drew us a map. Just great!

As a whole, all the information and tips provided by you and via the internet site were most useful.
Making the arrangements to rent the Orchard Bay Villa went quick and easy. You were a great help.

The house itself was clean and had everything we needed. The caretaking was daily and most courteous. We liked the somewhat countryside feel to the property. The pool was lovely and we appreciated that the windows were screened. We felt quite at home almost immediately.

Room for improvement: we would have enjoyed a shady spot to sit in in the afternoon. The back of the house could have provided that spot ... an additional place to sit with views across the neighbours' field right through to their orange orchard.
The front of the house was of course very well kept.

As a whole we have a most positive impression of the Sundance organisation and will certainly check your website when planning a return visit to Cyprus. Hopefully soon!

Wishing you Happy Holidays.

Kind regards, Irene Zupan, Amersfoort, The Netherlands

Dear Irene

Just a short note to thank you for our recent holiday at Orchard Villas. We enjoyed our visit and everything was as good as we expected. The information pack proved very useful. The position of the villa was ideal, allowing us to walk or drive to all the places we wanted to go. We'll be back!

Dear Irene

Just wanted to write and let you know that we had the most fabulous time whilst in the Orchard Villas in Polis.  Thank you so much for changing the villa at the last moment.  Having driven into Latchi we decided that Polis was a much nicer place to be.  We loved the fact that it was only a 10 minute walk into town.

The villa was great with all that we needed and the weather was beautiful that it was a perfect holiday.

I think that the whole area surrounding Polis is beautiful and would recommend it to all.  People were friendly and the food fantastic.

Thanks again,

Fiona Brianese,   Ruislip

Hi Irene

Just to thank you for your good advice in helping us choose the villa Orchard Beach. You were right that the location was just perfect for what we needed (particularly as neither house on either side of us was occupied!). Waking up to the sound of the sea and birdsong was wonderfully peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed just lazing around the pool. Luckily the sun shone after the first couple of days and stayed really hot until we left..

Best wishes

Helen Whitten, London

Hello Irene,

It has been nearly three weeks since Jen and I were on Cyprus. We had a wonderful time, in fact the best holiday we have had together for many years. We just crashed at the villa and walked everywhere which was so beautiful with the orange blossom and jasmine blossom just about making us drunk with its scent, the welcoming friendly folk at Moustakallis took us under their wing and fed us well.
There is much more to tell obviously but you get the idea! Thanks for your indispensible advice in choosing such a lovely place as Polis away from the throngs of Paphos and for the great villa. Our pool boy Anura was great, very helpful and delight to chat with.
All in all a perfect time....I am still cooking up Greek food here in the UK and Jen is back in the USA doing the same thing! Thanks again Irene and we will be back for another holiday with you some time in the not too distant future.

Warmest Wishes,

Neil Harley, Vermont, USA

Hi Irene,

Just dropping you a line after returning from Orchard Beach Villas in Polis to let you know what a wonderfully relaxing holiday we experienced. From the moment we landed at the airport to be greeted by the taxi driver from cy-breeze, to our return journey, we were overwhelmed by the friendliness of everyone we met. The villa itself was excellent with a well appointed kitchen, comfy sofas and beds, excellent swimming pool and garden area, and Oh did we utilise the water cooler! Both Sanjay and his brother were excellent caretakers of the property, and Dimitris proved to be helpful and efficient.

We enjoyed some lovely evening moonlight strolls into Polis centre, but would advise anyone to take a torch with them, as the lanes are very dark without the moonlight. The restaurants we sampled in Polis were all very good and we particularly enjoyed visits to Moustakallis, Finikas, Chix Chox and the excellent home cooking at nearby Karouzis. A perfect end to our day was to walk up the road into Polis at around 07:30 and stop off at Elena's Snack bar (first on the left) to have an aperitif, and watch the sunset. Again, Elena was an excellent hostess, trying to teach us a little more of the Greek language with every visit.

During our stay, we hired a car for 3 days and visited Latchi, Aphrodite's Baths, Pomos, Coral Bay and had an exhilarating drive up into the mountains, where we enjoyed stunning views and a visit to the monastery.

This was our fourth visit to Cyprus, and second to the Pomos/Polis area, and we will certainly be returning again. Thanks for all of your help and advice, we will be recommending you to all of our friends and family and look forward to booking with you again in the future.

Best Regards,

Mike & Jenny Kimmings Acklam, Middlesbrough

 Hi Irene,

Just thought I would send a quick email to say thank you. The villa was beautiful, and the holiday was perfect. The most relaxing holiday we have ever had! Lovely food in Polis as well. I would thoroughly recommend both the villa and yourself to anyone looking for this type of holiday. We would love to come back sometime.

Thank you for your excellent organisation and clear correspondance.

Regards,

Ian & Anne Whyte

Hi Irene,

We had a great time at Orchard Beach.  It is a great location and we found Sanjay and then his brother very helpful (and always smiling – in fact we saw the brother before he was introduced to us as we saw a man driving a car who looked very like Sanjay but with no hair!) Loved the walk up to the town in the cooler part of the day – all restaurants lovely and we tried Latchi and Aphrodite’s Bay a few times too. Also enjoyed Paphos Waterpark & the harbour at Paphos & the Troodos mountains – all lovely and exceeding our expectations of Cyprus – we will definitely be back!

Many thanks,

Anne Alridge,     Cambridge

 Hello Irene,

Just to let you know that we had a wonderful holiday at Orchard Villas, Polis over the past two weeks. The villa is in a lovely spot, secluded yet close enough to the Town. Thank you also for the information you provided before we went - it came in very useful.

A few other recommendations of restaurants for your lists:

Karouzis - the first one on the road into Polis has a lovely moussaka

Liza's Place, Agarka and Vomos Restaurant (just around the corner from the villa) - meze in both places are very good value.

Thanks again,

Fred

 Irene,

Just a quick email to let you know we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The Villa was superb & we received excellent service from Sanjay, (the pool boy & general odd job man) on various minor issues. It felt like home from home with the resident cat, Tiger (our name) who must have put on a stone in weight while we were there, along with Sanjay’s dog, Bruno who helped us cope with missing our own dog, Henry.....Polis & Latchi were delightful & more like the Cyprus we remember.

Many Thanks,

Brent

 Hi Irene,

Jon and I stayed in Orchard Coast from 3rd to 10th October this year. We had a fantastic holiday and the villa more than exceed our expectations.

Thanks again for a great place.

Best regards,

Annie

Dear Irene,

We had a lovely holiday and I am over the moon as I have been trying to swim for many years. I did it and I can now swim! I received a lovely necklace for my achievement from the Bits & pieces store in Polis……

Kind regards,

Anita Ingerfield,    Wadhurst

Dear Irene,

Had a problem with the internet so couldn’t reply sooner,  but wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at Orchard Shore (no 2)  The weather was kind to us, and the villa was so quiet and peaceful just how we like it. So many great areas for sitting outside. The kitchen was very well equipped and thank you so much for the hamper it was much appreciated. Lovely sight to be met with a bottle of wine!! Sanjay was lovely, and of course Bruno (he does love that dog!) We tended to eat our in Polis each night, and had some really nice meals; Finikas, Chix Chox and our favourite cant remember the name but it’s the one with the man with the moustache. We really like this area, travelled to Paphos and coral bay but they are too busy for us, had lunch at Latchi which is very pretty too.  Thank you again Irene for all your input, I will be in touch again as we are planning to go back next year and around the same time.

Regards,

Margaret and Keith Ramsbottom

Dear Irene,

Just a few lines to let you know we enjoyed out time in Cyprus. The villa, Orchard Beach, was just right for us. We hired a car for three days and we went to Latchi, Baths of Aphrodite, Lara Bay, Pomos, Pachyammos and some of the inland villages. We enjoyed some very nice meals and lovely Cypriot wine!! The fish restaurants in Latchi by the harbour were our favourites.

Thank you for your help and information, we will certainly go again. What is the weather like in late Oct and early Nov?

Many thanks

Judy Gowthorpe

 Irene,

Just a quick thank you for your assistance with our recent rental in Polis, from myself, Ann and my parents.

The villa and its location were ideal, as you advised, the pool especially welcome (and bigger than we anticipated - not sure if the measurements are in your ad.).

Nick from CY-Breeze was equally efficient.

Please keep me on your mailing list as I am sure we will want to return to Cyprus at some future date.

Kind Regards,

Ian Allen         West Derby

 Dear Irene,

Just to say how sorry we are for not writing to you sooner, but I just kept forgetting, as been rather busy since we got back! Anyway we would like to thank you for a fantastic honeymoon, we had such a wonderful time and we would recommend it to everyone! The villa was absolutely brilliant! We felt like millionaires! It was just everything, our own pool, with a pool boy coming everyday, seeing that we were ok and helping us, if we needed it and he was so nice and friendly, he sometimes brought his puppy with him, which was such fun watching him run around like a crazy pup! The villa itself had everything you could possibly need in it, and was absolute luxury! On the balcony you could see the stunning sea views and relax there and watch the lovely sunset every evening. The locals were very helpful and friendly, and the Polis Village was just for John, and me as it was not too big and loud, and had all that you needed there, with plenty of shops restaurants, which I think we nearly tried them all and we cannot say that any of them were bad! We really enjoyed the meals we had, and the very friendly service we got. Still on restaurants, a lady who worked in one of the shops in Polis, recommended a restaurant in Latchi, right by the harbour
as we all went there one evening and it was absolutely great! We had the fish meze, which is all sorts of different fish and it was cooked to perfection and such good service, it was a great evening out and just a little taxi ride away, we all really enjoyed it. Our friends also hired a car for the day and we set off to just drive around and stop were we wanted. One of these places was the donkey Sanctuary and again the people were very friendly, showing us photographs of donkeys that they had helped and raised. There were many donkeys to see and a lovely mother with her fowl, we have a lovely coffee there, then went on our way to the Cedar Forest which is beautiful but be careful if you get car sickness as the roads are quite windy. In the forest we stopped at the monastery where there was a stall selling all sorts of lovely sweet, fruit, nuts and cakes. There was also a lovely teashop in the shade, so you can cool down a bit with beautiful views of the forest. The monastery was very quiet and the chapel was the most beautiful place that I have ever seen. It was coved in gold and lit by candles, as it was so delicate you cannot take photos. There was also a shop that sold wine, which the monks used to make, it was great to see and we enjoyed the local history. We would go out in the morning and the evening as they are the coolest times of the day, then we would come back to the villa in the afternoon, and relax, swim and sunbathe, it was fantastic! We kept forgetting ourselves and calling it home, but that just shows you how comfortable we were! When our friends went home, we went to the Baths of Aphrodite on the bus, which was on £1.50 each way per person. When we arrived it was really lovely, it had a restaurant by the bay with a lovely sea view and the water was so clear! We also took a walk along the nature trails and saw where Aphrodite would take
sanctuary and bathe in the fresh water caves. Then we walked up the hill and the view was breath taking! I took many photos; we enjoyed it so much that we went back again! You have to be quite fit and enjoy walking as it gets very hot up there, but we loved it! We walked down to the beach most mornings, as it was a lovely walk. If you walk down the left-hand side of the beach you will come to a lovely restaurant, which serves a lovely breakfast!
Anyway Irene we would just like to thank you again for fixing us up with this fantastic honeymoon/holiday. I am so pleased that I saw your ad in the Friday-ad, we cannot thank you enough. We enjoyed it so much that we cannot wait to go again with you sometime!

Thanks a million!

Yours sincerely,

Denise Cragg and John Parsons.
